The Region of Landes and Bisca Grands Lacs, in France
Discover the exquisite region of « Bisca Grands Lacs » with this unique French immersion homestay. The whole region shares this low-key vibe. Because of its ideal location by the ocean and it’s mild climate year-round, it’s a popular region that has developed a lot lately. There are many new residential towns such as Parentis-en-Born to explore, gorgeous beaches, lakes, birds reserves, pine trees forests and parks. If you want, I’ll be happy to lend you a bike, to discover the region in a sporty way. I recommend renting a car to feel completely autonomous in your travels.
Parentis en Born
Situated in « The Landes », Parentis en Born is a small city nearby Biscarosse, Mimizan and Arcachon. You will find restaurants, shops, but above all magnificent lakes. You will be able to contemplate our beautiful sunsets.
Biscarosse
Only ten minutes away you will find Biscarosse Bourg, and about twenty minutes away Biscarosse beach. This charming town is famous for its beautiful beach, if you like water sports you will love it!
Arcachon
Nearby, Arcachon is a lovely seaside French town. It’s known for its 1900 architecture, amazing parks and beaches, and super fresh seafood. French people are not stressed here: we live by the sea and enjoy nature to its fullest.
Dune du pilat
La Dune du Pilat (highest sand dune in Europe, named 2nd world most beautiful beach) is 35 minutes away by car, located on the edge of the Landes de Gascogne forest massif on the Côte d’Argent. A walk, a picnic, a sunset, a paragliding flight, you can do a lot of activities while contemplating the « Cap Ferret », le « Banc d’Arguin » and « l’Ile aux oiseaux ».
Cap Ferret
Is located opposite Arcachon. Its territory consists mainly of a peninsula located between the Arcachon Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. If you wish to go there you have two solutions: by car, or by a very nice boat shuttle. You can even take the shuttle with your bike, to visit the surroundings of Cap Ferret.
Bordeaux
Finally I recommend you to visit the city of Bordeaux, famous for its Châteaux, delicious wines, the architecture of the streets in the city center… only 45 minutes by car or by train, Bordeaux offers a lot of entertainments.
